Franklin Grove serves as a beacon of hope for individuals and families seeking to reconstruct their lives post-incarceration. Acknowledging the hardships that reintegration into society entails, including the weight of past stigmas and the difficulties in securing stable housing and employment, we extend beyond mere accommodation. At Franklin Grove, we furnish a holistic support network that enables residents to surmount obstacles and rediscover their capabilities.

Franklin Grove supports men and women transitioning from prisons in Virginia and Washington, D.C. Our organization offers transitional housing and comprehensive services aimed at facilitating their successful reintegration into society. Presently, we operate three residences in Richmond, Virginia, and an additional three in Washington, D.C.

Question: What are the general expectations for residents at Franklin Grove?


Answer: Residents are expected to be courteous, cooperative, and congenial with staff, residents, and visitors. They must also be respectful of others' property and privacy.

Question: Are there any areas that are off-limits to residents?


Answer: Yes, there are certain areas designated as "unauthorized" that residents are not allowed to enter without permission or accompaniment from a staff member.

Question: What is the policy on smoking at Franklin Grove?



Answer: Smoking is strictly prohibited inside any of the facilities or vehicles. Additionally, throwing cigarette butts anywhere on the grounds is not permitted.

Question: Are there any particular guidelines concerning personal items and laundry?


Answer: Residents need to switch off the television before leaving their rooms and should not leave clothes unattended in the laundry room. Additionally, residents are prohibited from entering rooms where they do not reside.

Answer: Quiet hours commence at 10:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday and extend until 12:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Question: What are the dining hours at Franklin Grove?


Answer: Breakfast is served between 6am and 7am Monday through Friday and 6am to 8am on Saturday and Sunday. Dinner is served between 5pm and 7pm Monday through Sunday. Residents are not allowed to eat in the kitchen or dining room after 9 pm unless they work past or during this time, in which case a meal will be saved for them.

Answer: Franklin Grove staff, including the director and authorized personnel, hold all authority within the program. No resident is ever in a position of authority or control over other residents, subcontract employees, or staff.

Question: What happens if a resident tries to exert authority over others?


Answer: It is strictly against Franklin Grove's policy for any resident to take on a position of authority or control over others. Actions or statements that might give the appearance of authority or control are also prohibited.

Answer: Each resident is assigned a dedicated Case Manager/Social Services Coordinator who serves as a point of contact for consultation, direction, and planning for their time at Franklin Grove.

Answer: Franklin Grove encourages residents to bring a reasonable amount of clothing for their stay. The program provides residents with access to laundry facilities, so packing a large amount of clothing is unnecessary.

Answer: Yes, Franklin Grove provides 24/7 emergency medical, dental, and mental health care, including on-site first aid, crisis intervention, emergency evacuation, medical vehicles, and access to hospital emergency rooms.
